Aspiration Issues

Aspiration Issues

Problem

Possible Causes & Remedies

The microplate is stuck on the
wash head after aspiration or
wash.

Microplates with conical or tapered bottoms
(such as certain V-bottom or small-
volume/half-area plates) might be
incompatible with aspiration and wash
operations.

Incomplete aspiration across
the entire plate.

Incorrect plate definition:

•

Verify that all plate parameters in the
plate library match the plate in use. If
necessary, re-calibrate the well depth
using the Auto feature according to

Definition Dialog on page 72

Incorrect aspiration parameters:

•

96-well plates require crosswise aspiration
to achieve minimal residual volumes. If
necessary, change the aspirate mode to
CrossWise.

•

Aspirate dwell time and rate might have to
be increased. See

Aspirate probe height should be set at
0.0 mm to 0.2 mm for minimal residual
