Error Messages
POST Message Description
962 An error occurred during testing of the parallel port on the
system-board.
Action: If you have a parallel printer or other parallel device
attached to your system, verify that the parallel cable is
connected correctly. If it is, use the following procedure:
1. Turn off the system.
2. Disconnect the parallel cable from the parallel port.
3. Turn on the system.
If the POST error message does not reappear, either the
parallel cable or the device is probably failing.
See the information that came with the parallel device for
additional testing information.
If the POST error message reappears, have the system
serviced.
1162
An error occurred during testing of serial port 1 or serial port
2 on the system board.
Action: If you have a modem, serial printer, or other serial
device attached to your system, verify that the serial cable is
connected correctly. If it is, use the following procedure:
1. Turn off the system.
2. Disconnect the serial cable from the failing serial port.
3. Turn on the system.
If the POST error message does not reappear, either the serial
cable or the device is probably failing.
See the information that came with the serial device for
additional testing information.
If the POST error message reappears, have the system
serviced.
1801 No more room for PCI option ROM.
Action: Remove the failing PCI or Micro Channel adapter or
Remove or manually reconfigure the Micro Channel adapters
until the problem disappears. If the problem persists, have
the system serviced.
1802 No more I/O space available for PCI adapters.
Action: Remove the failing PCI or Micro Channel adapter, or
remove or manually reconfigure the Micro Channel adapters
until the problem disappears. If the problem persists, have
the system serviced.
