Installing Internal Drives
The processing sequence for SCSI devices is set through SCSISelect
(see “Configure/View Host Adapter Settings” on page 172 for more
information). The sequence proceeds from lowest SCSI ID to the
highest (0 to 6, then 8 to 15).
Refer to the instructions that come with the SCSI devices for
information about setting a SCSI ID.
The integrated SCSI-2 controller in your server has two internal
connectors and one external connector. On non-disk-array models,
one internal connector is used for an 8-bit cable; the other internal
connector is used for a 16-bit cable. Non-disk-array models that
come with a preinstalled hard disk drive use a 16-bit internal
connector. (The system board drawing in “Installed Device
Records” on page 384 shows the location of these connectors.)
On the disk-array models, the ServeRAID adapter provides three
internal connectors for 16-bit cables.

Note: To keep the external channel available for use on the
ServeRAID adapter, use Channel 2 or Channel 3 first, when
you connect internal SCSI devices.
On all models, the external connector is for a 16-bit cable.
The integrated SCSI-2 controller supports a total of seven 8-bit or
fifteen 16-bit SCSI devices. On the ServeRAID adapter, each of the
channels supports a total of fifteen 16-bit SCSI devices, for a total of
45 devices.
