Error Messages
POST Message Description
185 The stored information about the drive-startup sequence has
been corrupted.
Action: Restore the startup sequence.
Start the Configuration/Setup utility program; then select
Start Options
.
186 A system board or security hardware error occurred.
Action: Have the system serviced.
189 An attempt has been made to access the system with invalid
passwords.
Action: Enter the administrator password, if one has been set.
The error is cleared when you exit from the
Configuration/Setup utility program.
201 A failure occurred during memory testing. This error can be
caused by incorrectly installed memory, a failing memory
module, or a system-board failure.
Action:
Ÿ If you have just installed memory, see “Installing
Memory-Module Kits” on page 186 to verify that the new
memory is correct for your system. Then start the system
programs and select System board diagnostics from the
Test the Computer utility program menu to identify the
location of the problem memory module.
Ÿ If you have not just installed memory, have the system
serviced.
Note: Refer to “Installing Memory-Module Kits” on
page 186 to determine which modules are
supported in your system.
Ÿ Replace the failing memory module. If the error reoccurs,
replace the memory module pair. If the problem remains,
have the system serviced.
229 A failure occurred during cache memory testing.
Action: Have the system serviced.
