2.3.2 Setting up and connecting
All you need for this are the cables supplied with the equipment.
Caution
The use of the wrong mains adapter may damage your system. Only use the mains
adaptor supplied with the equipment.
Incorrect cabling of the telephone and LAN interfaces may also damage your system.
Only connect the LAN interface of the system to the LAN interface of the computer/hub
or a WAN interface if available and the telephone interface of the system only to the
telephone connection.
When setting up and connecting, carry out the steps in the following sequence (sockets
and plugs are colour-coded for easier assignment):
(1)
Affix the rubber feet supplied to the marked areas on the underside of the device.
(2)
Screw the external standard antenna supplied on to the RSMA connection provided
for this purpose.
(3)
Place your system on a solid, level base.
(4)
LAN: for the standard configuration of your system by Ethernet, connect one of the
four switch ports with the yellow marking to your LAN via the Ethernet cable supplied.
The system automatically detects whether it is connected to a switch or directly to a
PC.
(5)
ADSL: Connect the ADSL interface (ADSL) of your system to the DSL output of the
splitter using the DSL cable supplied.
(6)
Mains connection: Connect the system to a mains socket using the mains adaptor
supplied.
If required, you can set up further connections:
• Telephone: With the cable supplied, connect the external telephone interface ( FXO/S0)
of the system to your telephone outlet. An adapter is provided for connection to a TCU
socket.
• Other LANs/WANs: Connect any further terminal units in your network to the remaining
switch ports of your system with further Ethernet cables.
• Serial connection: For alternative configuration options, connect the serial interface of
your PC with the serial interface of the system. The serial interface is integrated into Eth-
ernet socket 1. Use the serial cable provided, and if necessary connect your network to
another Ethernet socket. However, configuration via the serial interface is not provided by
default.
