Starting and driving3-2
Before starting the engine
Before entering the vehicle, check
around the vehicle.
Adjust seat position, seat height,
backrest angle, head restraint height
and steering wheel angle.
Adjust interior and exterior rearview
mirrors of car.
Lock up all car doors.
Fasten seat belt.
How to start the engine
(a) Before starting
1.
Check parking brake;
2.
Turn off all unnecessary lamps
and ancillary facilities;
3.
Manual transmission: set shift
lever to neutral; if it is not, step on
clutch pedal to the largest extent and
hold it until engine is started, and shift
transmission to neutral (stamping
both clutch and brake can start
vehicle, but stamping brake is not
recommended);
4.
DCT transmission: make sure
that shift lever is in Park position (P)
or Neutral position (N), stamp brake
pedal and anti-theft system will lift
anti-theft function.
(b) Starting engine
Before starting engine, confirm that
steps in ‗(a) Before starting‘ is
performed.
Normal starting
Multi-point fuel injection system in
engine will automatically control
correct mixture of air and fuel used for
starting. Cold start or warm start for
engine can be conducted as per the
following procedures.
Press down the START button to
‗Start up‘ position to start engine.
Engine can be heated via driving,
rather than idling. Steadily run engine
for preheating vehicle until
temperature of engine coolant rises to
the normal range.
If the engine flames out...
Start the engine again according to
correct procedures for normal
starting.
If the engine fails to start...
Refer to 'If vehicle fails to start' in
Section 4.
FRIENDLY TIPS
It is recommended reduce idling
time for cold start of 476ZQA cars.
