Power/time templates
(PTT)
In GSM, there are two different types of bursts: the relatively short random
access bursts and the usual normal bursts. For both burst types, individual limits
for the power/time template can be set using the corresponding PTT menu.
The menu shown below is for the random-access bursts.
TCH Power
Change
In GSM, the mobile can be commanded to use a certain
power level. The command to do so can either be trans-
mitted on the FACCH (
F

C

Ch
annel) or
on the SACCH (
S

ssociated
C

Ch
annel). The
main difference is timing, of course. Commands transmit-
ted on the FACCH (stealing channel) will be effective
extremely quick and thus lead to short measurement
times. However, some mobiles don’t seem to like that and
therefore, the 4400 also provides the SACCH-only way, as
the GSM network does.
Entry range:
FACCH&SACCH or SACCH
Default value:
FACCH&SACCH
Warning:
A simple push on this softkey will cancel all
values entered on this and all other menus and set all of
them to factory defaults. All your previous entries will
be lost.
