Chapter 3 - Operation
3.3.15.2.3 Spiral Scan
In a spiral scan, an Archimedean spiral or linear spiral
is traced by the axes.
In these scans, it is the angular spacing between intersections along a ray
from the center of the spiral that is constant. This scan always begins at the
center of the spiral (current position), and continues until the selected
amplitude is obtained. Both axes will then immediately move back to the
center position and repeat the scan until it is disabled or autotracking mode
is entered.
a)
With top level menu
displayed, press MENUS for the desired axis.
b) Press SETUP. Setup menu is displayed.
c) Press SCAN. Scan menu is displayed.
d) Press SPIRAL.
e) Press VELOC to enter the Tangential rate of antenna beam travel during
scan movement. Enter a value between 0.01°/s to 5.625°/s.
f) Press TIME to enter the duration of scan; after this period, the axes travel
back to the center and repeat scan. Enter a value of 0 to 60 seconds.
g) Press CROSS to enter the Crossover Elevation If the pedestal elevation is
above this value, the time duration is doubled for the scan. This creates a
larger scan to cover the increased velocity of the spacecraft relative to the
antenna.. Enter a value of 0.01° to +1.406°
h) Press SPACE to enter the Spacial angle between adjacent scans. Enter a
value of 0° to +90°.
