Chapter 3 - Operation
3.3.7 Emergency Shutdown
To immediately stop all pedestal axes, press the STOP key on the numeric
keypad on the digital controller front panel. This action places all axes in
Standby mode and stops axis motion but does not remove power from the
digital controller or the pedestal. To remove power from the digital
controller, press the power switch in the lower right of the front panel.
The STOP key does not function if communications link
between ORI and Servo boards fails.
Switching off power to the indoor unit in an indoor/outdoor
configuration will not remove power from the pedestal.
Under either of these conditions, the unit will automatically
revert to Standby mode for all axes and switch off pedestal
power in approximately 10 seconds.
3.3.8 Standby Mode
Refer to Figure 3.3. To enter Standby mode, press the STANDBY softkey on
the top level menu. Only the axis corresponding to the softkey pressed enters
Standby mode. The other axes' modes remain unchanged. In Standby, power
is applied to the axis, but the drive motor is disabled and the brakes are set.
Standby is the default mode at power up.
In an emergency situation, pressing the STOP key on the numeric keypad
places all axes in Standby mode.
3.3.9 Position Mode
Refer to Figure 3.3. To enter Position mode, press the POSN softkey on the
top level menu. Only the axis corresponding to the softkey pressed enters
Position mode. The other axes' modes remain unchanged. In Position mode,
key in the desired position angle on the numeric keypad and press ENT, or
use the position knob. Press the softkey once to use the position knob and a
second time to enter a value. Turning the knob counterclockwise decreases
the angle and turning it clockwise increases the angle. Refer to paragraph
3.3.15.3 and Figure 3.8 for information on Position mode parameters.
