a)  With top level menu displayed, press MENUS. 

b)  Press CONTRL. Control menu is displayed. 

c)  Press LCLRMT. Local/remote control menu is displayed. 

d)  Observe LOCAL softkey. If it is highlighted, controller is in Local control 

mode. Local mode is entered and exited at the local control unit at the 
pedestal. Front-panel controls have no effect on local control. 

e)  Press REMOTE to transfer control to a remote computer. This key must 

be selected before remote control is possible. The controller cannot be 
placed in or removed from local or front-panel control by a remote 
computer. Note that the remote computer can read status from the digital 
controller even when Remote mode is not active. 

f)  Press FNTPNL to control the digital controller from its front panel. 

3.3.16.2 Autotrack Mode 

The Autotrack mode is available in Model 3862 Digital Controllers only. 
Refer to Figure 3.12. These softkeys allow entering Autotrack mode 
parameters. In Autotrack mode, position error commands are generated by 
the autotrack PWB from the tracking video.
