Chapter 4 - Principles of Operation

The assembly is equipped with a fast serial link for communication with the
servo board. Serial port media is selectable: twisted pair with multidrop
capabilities (RS-422/485) or RS-232. Baud rate of the serial link is fixed at 100
kbaud.

The assembly's firmware provides the board with built-in testing. Startup
self-test functions include RAM write/read test, NVRAM checksum, and
ADC loopback test

4.2.5 Resolver Reference Oscillator Assembly

The ac reference signal for the resolver(s) is generated in the controller by
means of a 1 kHz or 2 kHz reference signal generator which is powered by an
internal dc power supply. This reference signal is distributed to the resolvers
in the pedestal and to the Synchro/Resolver Assembly to facilitate data
conversion.
