2. Adjusting bolt
3. Crankshaft pulley
[J20 engine]
For J20 engine
1) Inspect belt for cracks, cuts, deformation, wear and cleanliness.
If so, replace belt.
2) Check belt for tension. Belt is in proper tension when it deflects
5 to 7 mm (0.20 – 0.27 in.) under thumb pressure (about 10 kg
or 22 lbs).
Cooling fan belt tension “a” (as deflection / 10 kg (22 lbs))
For J20 engine:
5 – 7 mm (0.20 – 0.27 in.)
NOTE:
When replacing belt with a new one, adjust belt tension to
4 – 5 mm (0.16 – 0.20 in.).
3) If belt is too tight or too loose, adjust it as follows:
a) Loosen adjusting bolt and pivot bolt.
b) Tighten adjusting bolt during keeping fan belt in proper ten-
sion by tightening tension bolt with wrench as shown in the
figure.
c) Tighten adjusting bolt and pivot bolt to specified torque.
