Installation

Power up the NSG using the power supply provided.

Telnet on to the NSG via PC that can communicate with the NSG, ie
telnet 192.168.0.1

At the Login prompt enter

Wait for the prompt (#) to be displayed which will confirm you have enter the correct login details

Enter

You will be presented with the current configuration of the NSG and asked if you wish to change
this configuration

You will be asked whether the NSG will use a static IP address or use DHCP. Press Enter to leave
this field as
s
(for static) or change to
d
for DHCP.
If you chose Static configure the following options:
a
IP address - enter the IP address that the NSG will use and will enable it to communicate with
the Primary Call Server.
b
Netmask - change this entry if necessary for the network
c
Gateway - change this to the IP address of the default gateway on the network.
d
DNS server - change this to the IP address of the DNS server on the network

You will then be asked if you want the NSG to be a DHCP Server, press Enter to leave the setting as
y
, or enter
n
.
If you chose to enable the DHCP server, configure the following options:
a
DHCP base address
–
enter the base network address
b
DHCP start address - enter the first address of the DHCP range this NSG will give out
c
DHCP end address - enter the last address of the DHCP range this NSG will give out

You will be asked for the Master Address. Enter the IP address of the Primary Call Server.

The new configuration will be displayed, check that this has been entered correctly and enter
y
.
(Otherwise enter
n
and start again.)

You will be informed that the configuration has been saved and the prompt will return.

Connect the NSG from the LAN LINK port to the Primary Call Server via the network, or directly to a
LAN port on the 5100 Call Server, if relevant.

Enter
poweroff
to reboot the NSG

When the NSG is ready (the SpliceCom LED is solid) open Manager on the Primary Call Server

From the navigation pane, select Unassigned Modules

The NSG will be listed. Select this link to open the NSG’s configuration form.

From the Module Status list box select Member

Select Update or Apply when ready.

From the navigation pane, select Modules. Note that the NSG is now displayed in this list.
If you configured the NSG not to be a DHCP server you may wish to double check this setting:

Open the configuration form for the NSG and select the Network Service Gateway tab

Ensure that the DHCP mode is set to Disable. (If not, select this option, select Update and reboot
the NSG by pressing the Reset switch once.)
Connecting a Phone or Trunk Module to the Secondary Call Server
A Phone or Trunk module can be connected to the Secondary Call Server as described in the Connecting
a 5300 Phone Module section from page 44 and the Connecting a 5200 Trunk Module section from page
