INTRODUCTION TO THE FUS1020 NEMA TYPE 4 FLOWMETER
Congratulations on purchasing the Sitrans FUS1020 NEMA Type 4 flowmeter. The FUS1020 flowmeter
utilizes a compact integrated design technology yet is easy to install and operate. It will not take long for
you to appreciate its unmatched performance and its many features such as our unique enhanced
transit-time MultiPulse technology and full Wide-Beam transducer operation mode.
FUS1020 is a compact NEMA Type 4/IP 65 transit-time flow computer. Functionally, it operates as a
stand-alone flowmeter using conventional clamp-on transducers or in-line flow tubes. This product is
intended for use in ordinary, non-hazardous locations.
The FUS1020 is available in the following configurations:

SYSTEM HARDWARE DESCRIPTION
FUS1020 is housed inside a NEMA Type 4 steel, epoxy painted case that contains the main electronics
and the Touch Keypad User Interface. The Keypad enclosure cover includes a 2 x 16 character LCD
Alphanumeric Display viewable through a plastic window. Removing this cover provides access to I/O
terminal blocks (TB1 and TB2), RS-232 Serial Connector J1, and System Lockout Switch S1. Remov-
ing the Power enclosure cover provides access to fused power input connector P1 (100-240 VAC or 9-
36 Vdc), fuse F1 and jumper JP1. The primary instrumentation output is a loop powered isolated 4-20
mA current.
NOTE: For continued safety protection of the Model FUS1020, in accordance with UL/Listing,
the supply mains branch circuit must be limited to a maximum of 20A by circuit breaker.
The FUS1020 flowmeter provides for an RS-232 remote access I/O port via a DB-9 connector, an
assignable optically isolated status (relay) output, a second 4-20 mA Analog Output and two “F” con-
nectors for track or remote mount transducer cabling. The FUS1020 single channel version also pro-
vides an optically isolated high resolution/high stability digital synthesized pulse generator output.

INTRODUCTION TO THE FUS1020 OPERATING SYSTEM
The FUS1020 software resides on Flash ROM chips. Software upgrades are available from our Tech-
nical Services Group (1 800-275-8480). All FUS1020 models provide a ready reference to the software
version and modification code. Additionally, a check-sum assures that the software code has retained
its original integrity. The operating system consists of real-time data collection and meter control algo-
rithms and an Installation Menu interface for easy data entry.
