User Manual 3153
Using The Instrument 3-52
While the initial skew between channels may be nulled only by using
external cables, the Model 3153 provides a command for programming
an adjustable phase offset between channels. Phase offset is adjusted
in multiples of 4 waveform points so that the more points in the
waveform, the better the phase offset resolution. For example, for a
1000-point waveform, resolution is 4
÷
1000 x 360
°
= 1.44
°
; for a
100,000-point waveform, the resolution is 0.144
°
.
Phase offsets are always referenced to channel 1. Therefore, phase
offsets are programmable for channels 2 and 3 only. An attempt to
program channel 1 with this parameter will result in an error message.
Note that the phase offset parameter is programmable in integer
multiples of 4 points. If you use phase offset values that are not divisible
by 4, the generator automatically rounds the number up or down to the
nearest valid multiple of 4.
Use the following command to add phase offset to a channel:
INSTrument:PHASe <phase_offset>
Phase offset is set in waveform points.
The query:
INSTrument:PHASe?
queries the phase offset and returns an integer number.
System-Related
Commands
System-related commands are used to place the instrument in a known
state, clear the instrument to its defaults, or query the generator for
system errors or identification. The following is an overview of the
system-related commands.
The query:
SYSTem:ERRor?
reads one error from the error queue. Up to 30 errors can be stored in
the generator's error queue. Errors are retrieved in first-in-first-out
(FIFO) order. The first error returned is the first error that was stored.
When all errors have been read from the queue, the generator returns
+0, "No error".
If more than 30 errors have occurred, the last error stored in the queue
(the most current error) is replaced with -350,"Too many errors". No
additional errors are stored until all errors have been removed from the
queue. The error queue is cleared only when power is cycled off or after
the execution of a *CLS command. The *RST command does not clear
the error queue.
