User Manual 3153
Using The Instrument 3-12
The query:
FREQuency?
queries the frequency setting for the standard function currently active
and returns a value in hertz.
The command:
FREQuency:RASTer {<frequency> | MINimum |MAXimum}
sets the sample clock frequency for the user and sequenced mode
parameters. MIN selects the lowest frequency allowed for the currently
active segment or sequence. MAX selects the highest frequency allowed
for the currently active segment or sequence. The default sample clock
frequency setting is 1MHz for all parameters. Note that the output
frequency depends on the number of points specified in the waveform.
The output frequency can be computed using the following formula:
Output Frequency = Sample Clock / Number of points in the active
segment.
The query:
FREQuency:RASTer?
queries the sample clock frequency setting for the arbitrary segment or
sequence currently active and returns a value in Hertz.
Selecting the
External SCLK
The Model 3153 has three independent sample clock generators, one
for each channel. The three sample clock generators allow each of the
output channels to generate its own waveform frequency.
In cases where synchronization to other instruments in the system is
needed, one may use the front panel SCLK 1 and SCLK 2/3 inputs for
replacing the internal sample clock generators. Although there are three
channels, the Model 3153 has only two inputs for external sample clock
signals. SCLK 1 can be used for channel 1 only and SCLK 2/3 can be
used for one of channels 2 or 3 or both.
When channels 2 or 3 are coupled to channel 1, the SCLK 2/3 input is
disabled and SCLK 1 is distributed as the sample clock signal to the
slave channels, if selected. Use the following command to select the
external SCLK input:
FREQuency:RASTer:SOURce {INTernal | EXTernal}
INT is the default state of the instrument after power up. Select EXT to
activate the front panel SCLK 1 or SCLK 2/3 inputs. An LED turns on
with the selected input.
The query:
FREQuency:RASTer:SOURce?
queries the sample clock source and returns INT or EXT.
