User Manual 3153
Using The Instrument 3-47
1. Prepare the sequence table using the format shown in Figure 3-12.
2. Use the commands below to place the 3153 in the right mode to
accept sequence table data:
SMEM:TYPE SEQ;:SMEM ON
3. Download your sequence table to the generator. You can use the
program for downloading waveform data as an example of
programming the 3153 to download sequence table data.
4. The command: SMEM OFF terminates the sequence table download
procedure.
Figure 3-12, Sequence Table Download Format
There are a few things to consider when you prepare sequence tables:
1. The data for each step must be 6 bytes long.
2.
The number of bytes in a complete sequence table must be divisible
by 6. The Model 3153 has no control over data sent to its DMA port
during data transfer. Therefore, wrong data and/or an incorrect
number of bytes will cause an erroneous sequence setting.
3.
The LSB bit is the only bit used in the mode byte. This bit has an
affect on the operation of the sequence only when Mixed Step
Advance mode is active. With the LSB bit set to “0”, the sequence
generator will advance to the next step automatically. With the LSB
bit set to “1”, the sequence generator will advance to the next step
only when a valid trigger signal is sensed at the trigger input.
