Chapter 6 The copy function
Include tab sheets and inserts
Include tab sheets and inserts
Introduction
Inserts and tab sheets are media that you can use for example to indicate the start of
a new chapter in a report. Inserts can be blank sheets but also pre-printed sheets or
copied sheets.
You can use the Set-build function of the Océ VarioPrint
®
2100/2110 to include the
tab sheets and inserts into a document
Combine subsets into one document on
page 164
. You then divide your document into subsets. The first subset for example
is a chapter. The next subset is an insert or tab sheet that indicates the start of the next
chapter. Then follows the next subset, which is a chapter. After you defined all the
settings for all the subsets, the Océ VarioPrint
®
2100/2110 joins all the subsets into
one complete document.
Note:
Remember that you can only use the Set-build key
for paper originals, not
for documents from 'Memory' or the 'Mailbox'.
The media type
Before you can use tab sheets or inserts, you must define certain media as media
with the type of tab sheet or insert. You must define the type of media in the 'Media
catalogue' of the Océ VarioPrint
®
2100/2110 Settings Editor. You can select for
example normal, insert or tab sheet for the media type. The tab sheets and inserts get
special icons.
Tab sheets with A4-size
Tab sheets with A4-size are approximately 12 mm larger than the actual A4-size.
However, the Océ VarioPrint
®
2100/2110 allows you to define such tab sheets still
as sheets with A4-size. There are two ways to define the tab sheets with A4-size in
the 'Media catalogue' of the Océ VarioPrint
®
2100/2110 Settings Editor.
■
Like tab sheets with A4-size
■
Like tab sheets with custom size, for example the A4-size (for the media) + 13
mm (for the tab).
The difference between the two types of tab sheet is the following. Tab sheets with
A4-size can go into the 'Finisher' as well as the 'Upper output'. Tab sheets with
custom size can only go into the 'Upper output'. When you use tab sheets with
custom size in a job, the complete job becomes a custom-size job, which can only go
into the 'Upper output'. This result can decrease the productivity of the Océ
VarioPrint
®
2100/2110 because the output through the 'Upper output' is slower than
the output through the 'Finisher'.
