5.2.9.5 RSTP
The WCM supports RSTP for loop prevention when resilient network topology is used.
This menu defines the global RSTP configuration for the switch, port specific parameters,
including PortFast are configured under the port menus.
The RSTP configuration menu, once enabled, is as below:
Metrodata WCM1100 "WCM1100" Alarms: Major

5.2.9.6 Mode
RSTP may be enabled, all ports not configured as PortFast, will transmit and receive
BPDU’s according to the RSTP IEEE802.1D standard to prevent loop conditions occurring.
5.2.9.7 Priority
The RSTP protocol defines a ROOT switch as the core of the network. The protocol
automatically determines the ROOT switch as the device which has the lowest Bridge
Identifier. The Bridge identifier is composed of the bridge MAC address combined with the
Priority.
The priority system uses the lowest number 0, as highest priority and 15 as lowest priority.
If it is desirable to define the ROOT switch then setting the priority to 0, will in most cases
force this unit to become the root.
5.2.9.8 Max Age
This defines the maximum age of information transmitted by the Root Bridge. The allowed
range for this parameter is in the range 6 to 40 seconds.
