5.5.8.1.1.2 Get New Software
The Get New Software option is selected for performing a main application code update.
Following the Get New Software option the warning message below will appear:

TFTP Software Upgrade
CAUTION: Proceding further will mean that the unit must be re-started,
and the performance log may be cleared, even if the upgrade is unsuccessful.

If you wish to proceed, then confirm Y, and then enter the file name of the application
software to download:
File name: WCM1100.812
Whilst the download takes place, the current block received count will increase to indicate
that the download is happening.
Once the file is downloaded
File name: wcm1100.812
Blocks received: 3939
File received successfully, length 2016261.
File contains:

This will replace:

If the correct file has been downloaded, and you wish to proceed with the update confirm
the prompt with Y. At this point the firmware will be programmed into the non volatile flash
after which point the unit will reboot and reload the updated application.
Software upgrade is a failsafe process with a dual copy of the application being stored in
flash. When new software is downloaded, it is first validated and is then programmed into
the main application block. Once this is completed thebackup application block is
programmed. In this process, there is never a point where a valid application image does
not exist such that a power fail will force a restart using the backup application if the main
application has been corrupted. This process is failsafe and should never render the unit
inoperable.
