Installation
Preparing to lift the Precision Platform
•
3-mm (1/8-inch) shims – 4 each
•
leveling shims – 10 each
•
Assorted lugs, heat shrink tubing, and miscellaneous supplies
Use the shims to shim the scanner up to the correct sheet passline height
and to level the scanner. Place the shims under the expansion joint plates
that must be placed immediately under the scanner end support. The
expansion joint plates should remain bolted in place on the bottom of the
support until the scanner is placed and shimmed to the correct height and
level. Once the scanner is shimmed to the correct height and leveled, the
3/8”-16 bolts that hold the expansion joint together during shipment and
installation must be removed.
3.5. Preparing to lift the Precision Platform
The Precision Platform is shipped with dollies that can be used to roll the
scanner to the installation location where it will be lifted onto the
mounting pedestals (See Figure 3-1).
WARNING
:
Scanners are heavy. To avoid personal injury, use caution when
unbolting and removing the dollies.
3.5.1. Attaching the Precision Platform to a crane
In the case where the scanner’s length does not exceed 8.5m (28 ft) and the
anticipated angles of tilt for the scanner and lifting cables will not exceed
±10° from the vertical, it is permissible to attach the scanner to the crane
by means of the lifting eyebolts installed by Honeywell at the ends of the
upper I-beam. See Figure 3-1.
If the scanner’s length exceeds 8.5m (28 ft) or if the anticipated angle of tilt
from vertical for either the scanner or the lifting cables will exceed ±10°, it
is essential that Honeywell be contacted for guidance.
