Scanner Maintenance
Carriages, static drain wire and tracks
9.4.2.1.
Inspecting and replacing the static drain lines
1.
Scan the heads to the offsheet position at the cable end and turn off
the Motor Power keyswitch (see Figure 9-9).
WARNING
:
To perform any maintenance, troubleshooting, or
replacement of components, ensure that power is
disabled at the breaker.
2.
Remove all of the upper and lower beam covers. See Subsection
9.1.7.
3.
Inspect both the upper and lower drain lines full-length for fraying
and flat spots. If any of the wire strands in the static line are visibly
worn through, the line must be replaced.
4.
Remove the drain line and re-assemble using the assembly
drawing.
5.
When fabricating the line, match the length of the line that has been
removed.
6.
Attach the line to the spring on the cable end support and the hook
on the distant end support. Make sure the wire lugs are attached to
the line and installed as shown on assembly drawings.
7.
The spring should stretch 6 to 13 mm (¼" to ½".) for proper line
tension. The tension can be adjusted by moving the eye bolts at
both end supports.
9.4.3. Scanner tracks
The material used for the scanner tracks is fiberglass. They are designed to
last the life of the scanner without rusting or losing their alignment.
However, they must be cleaned periodically to remove wheel rubber and
dust that might stick to the fiberglass. Subsection 9.4.3.1 describes how to
clean the tracks. If the tracks come out of alignment because of a wreck or
some other cause, they will require realignment by a Honeywell factory
technician.
