Scanner Maintenance 

Drive belt system

OTE

:

  

Replace both belts (upper and lower) when either one requires 
replacement. 

 

To replace the head drive belts: 

1.

 

Send the heads offsheet to the cable end of the scanner. 

2.

 

Turn off the Motor Power keyswitch. 

 

 

   

 

WARNING

:

  

To perform any maintenance, troubleshooting, or 
replacement of components, ensure that power is 
disabled at the breaker. 

 

3.

 

Remove the upper and lower beam covers. See Subsection 9.1.7. 

4.

 

Remove both ends of the upper belt from the belt tighteners where 
they are mounted to the head carriage belt support bracket and 
remove the belt from the scanner. 

5.

 

Lay the old belt on the floor next to the new belt, and cut it to the 
same length. 

6.

 

Feed the new belt through the pulleys and re-wrap it around the 
belt tighteners at the belt support bracket. Refer to assembly 
drawings. 

7.

 

Make sure the belt is placed correctly on all drive belt supports 
located in the beam. 

8.

 

Make sure the belt is not twisted and that it is properly located on 
each pulley. 

9.

 

Repeat steps 4 through 8 for the lower belt. 

10.

 

Adjust the upper belt tension such that the belt is correctly 
tensioned using the belt tension tool. See Subsection 9.6.3. 

11.

 

Adjust the lower belt tension so that the belt hangs loose between 
the beam belt supports. Check head alignment. The belt will need
