The speed of the scanner when in
Scanner Shop Mode
is set by a pot on
the Frame Controller. This pot adjusts a voltage sent by the frame
controller to the motor controller. If this pot is adjusted fully to the low
voltage, the scanner may not scan as the motor controller is receiving a
zero speed setpoint.
4.2.3. Using the motor controller to troubleshoot
scanning operations
If scan speed is not constant, check the setup values in the motor
controller. The motor controller is located in the PMP (MSS) enclosure for
4022-31 and 4022-40 models and is located on board the scanner at the
cable end for 4022-30 models. If the motor controller displays
CL
while in
steady state scanning (not accelerating), a higher current limit might be
required for the scanner; however, for safety reasons, do not set the
current limit too high. An obstruction to scanning or incorrect clearance
setting of the wheels on the head carriage would also result in the
CL
being displayed continuously, do not adjust the limit in these cases.
The procedures for entering a password and changing a motor controller
parameter, as well as tables of correspondences between values and
settings, are contained in the manual for the AC Tech variable-speed AC
motor drive shipped with the scanner. See also Subsection 9.8.6.
If the Precision Platform has stopped moving, check:
1.
Will the heads move when pushed by hand or is there an
obstruction?
2.
Will the heads scan in Manual? If yes, go to step 7. If no, go to step
3.

Confirm that the head split LED interlock (DS20 on the cable end
termination board) is green. If not, check that the head-split key
switch is in the correct position.
