5.6.1. Routing and processing
The Precision Platform Scanner includes the following system-level
components that either route or process signals to and from the sensors:
•
Upper and Lower Heads - Sensors send and receive analog and
digital signals directly to and from the upper and lower
termination PCBs. Some sensor harnesses connect directly to the
termination PCB, while others connect to the configuration PCB
mounted to the termination PCB. A few sensors use SDAQ PCBs
that provide localized signal conditioning and digitization.
SDAQs connect to the configuration PCB through a high-speed
RS485 serial communication line. The termination PCBs provide a
direct connection into the power tracks through ribbon-cable-
style connectors.

Power Track – All connections between the 4604-02 PMP or the
MXOpen Quality Manager and the two scanning heads are made
through the upper and lower power tracks. Each power track
consists of several 20 AWG ribbon cables plus one coax ribbon
cable. The ribbon cables connect to the Termination Board inside
the scanner cable end bell through quick-disconnect headers and
plugs. For more information on the scanner end Termination
Board, refer to Chapter 6.

Termination Board – provides termination points for establishing
connections between either the 4604-02 Precision Measurement
Processor or MXOpen Quality Manager and the power tracks.
The Termination Board is wired to either the PMP or the Quality
Manager through cables that are specified in the cable schedule in
the 0940223X I or the 09402240 I Installation Drawing package.
