heads and the cable end as well as embedded into the head sensor
platforms will not corrode.
Water with a high mineral or biological content may plug the
cooling lines.
If the mill water source does not satisfy the preceding specifications, one
of the following must be installed:
•
A Honeywell water-to-water exchanger unit in the case where
the ambient temperature around the scanner and heads does
not exceed 75°C (170°F), the ambient temperature around the
chiller does not exceed 57°C (135°F), and the mill water does not
exceed 27°C (80°F).
•
A chiller in the case where the ambient temperature around the
scanner and heads exceeds 75°C (170°F), the ambient
temperature around the chiller exceeds 57°C (135°F), and/or the
mill water exceeds 27°C (80°F).
2.12.5. Setting up a chiller backed up by an external
open loop
Cool the heads and cable end electronics with fluid supplied in an external
closed loop from a chiller or heat exchanger. The proper temperature and
purity of the cooling fluid can be ensured in a closed loop. A chiller-
supplied system must be backed up by an open-loop water system.
If the chiller will be in an environment with ambient temperatures under
43°C (110°F), a standard chiller that satisfies the chiller specifications
detailed in Subsection 2.12.6 can be used. If higher chiller ambient
temperatures will be encountered, it will be necessary to purchase a
Honeywell chiller. This chiller includes an extra fluid-cooled condenser
that automatically turns the chiller on when the ambient temperature
reaches 43°C (110°F).
If the chiller environment is poor (high temperature, corrosive, or very
dusty), then consider a water-to-water heat exchanger.
Site preparation must include installing the chiller and setting it up to
circulate cooling fluid with the following characteristics:
