•
if space is adequate for the scanner frame, passage of the sensor
heads, beam cover removal, access door swing, and unhindered
access to service personnel
•
the scanner environment temperature, humidity, and
contaminants
•
cabling, conduit, and cable tray routes
•
low-pressure purge air duct routing and blower and filter
locations
•
high pressure air supply, pipe routing and regulator and filter
locations
•
coolant supply and return pipe routing and drain accessible
Limits, clearances and related details are indicated on the scanner
installation drawings.
The chosen location must satisfy
all
of these requirements.
When choosing a scanner location, the first consideration must be given to
the safe operation of the scanner. Observe the locations and other
equipment on the machine that operators must access. This is especially
true during threading of the machine.
Some scanner locations may require moving or modifying existing
threading rope runs or belts or the addition of threading conveyors to
safely thread the machine after the addition of the scanner.
The location of the scanner is also determined by the required paper
measurements and associated controls. Different scanner options, such as
a single-sided scanner, are available to make measurements in difficult
locations.
The scanner location must allow installation of the scanner with the wheel
dollies or the lift eyes without exceeding maximum cable angles as
described later in this section. The location chosen must provide enough
space for the scanner frame, scanner head movement, mounting pedestals,
scanner access door swing, removal of beam covers, servicing of scanner
components, and servicing of other nearby equipment.
