Attenuation compensation is always on with
WX and preset gain selected but the RCT
pushbutton allows the operator to add or delete
the cyan REACT field. Selecting RCT also
overrides variable gain, if selected, and forces
the system into preselect gain.
The REACT function permits the radar re-
ceiver to adjust it’s own sensitivity automat-
ically to compensate for attenuation losses as
the radar pulse passes through weather tar-
gets on the way to illuminate other targets. The
cyan field indicates area where further com-
pensation is not possible. Any target detected
within the cyan field cannot be calibrated and
should be considered hazardous. All targets in
the cyan field are displayed as 4th level pre-
cipitation (magenta). A “RCT” replaces the
weather operating mode annunciation on the
PFDs/MFD radar displays when this mode is
selected.
STAB
This switch on the radar control panel is used
to disable antenna stabilization from AHRS #1.
When STAB is selected off, the antenna stabi-
lization is disabled and an amber “STAB” is
annunciated above the radar mode annunciator
on the MFD.
TGT (Target Alert)
The TGT switch is used to enable and disable
the radar target alert feature. Target alert is
selectable in all but the 300 NM range. When
selected, target alert monitors for red level 3
or greater returns beyond the selected range and
7.5 degrees on each side of the airplane head-
ing. The cyan TGT annunciator on the MFD and
