Normal Brake Failure
As detailed in Table 14-1, page 14-4, there are
several brake system related messages that
will be annunciated on the CAS should a mal-
function occur.
White advisory message is:
• BRAKE FAULT–Minor system fault
with minor degradation in performance.
Reduced performance may be experi-
enced during maximum braking.
Amber caution messages are:
• OUTBD BRK FAIL (L, R, or LR)–
Indicates a failure of left/right or both
left and right outboard brakes. This fault
is suppressed if the NORM BRK FAIL
message is displayed. Landing perfor-
mance will be affected.
• I N B D B R K FA I L ( L , R , o r L R ) –
Indicates a failure of left/right or both
left and right inboard brakes. This fault
is suppressed if the NORM BRK FAIL
message is displayed. Landing perfor-
mance will be affected.
• ANTI-SKID FAIL–The anti-skid pro-
tection has been disabled, either through
pilot manual selection or by the loss of
anti-skid function to the brakes. Landing
performance will be affected.
• PLT BRK FAULT–One or more of the
pilot’s brake pedal transducers or the
associated circuit has failed. Use the
copilot pedals.
• CPLT BRK FAULT–One or more of the
copilot’s brake pedal transducers or the
associated circuit has failed. Use the
pilot pedals.
I n t h e u n l i k e l y eve n t t h a t m u l t i p l e h y -
draulic/electrical failures render the normal
brake system inoperative, the crew will be
alerted by the following red annunciation and
aural warnings (Figure 14-23):
• Master WARN lights illuminate.
• Master warning chime sounds and a
vo i c e m e s s a g e , “ B R A K E S FA I L ,
BRAKES FAIL, BRAKES FAIL, . . .”
• CWP annunciator “NORMAL BRAKES
FAIL” illuminates.
• Red CAS message “NORM BRK FAIL”
is displayed on CAS.
The BRAKES FAIL voice message can be
muted by depressing the mute switch in the
right thrust lever or depressing either master
WARN light.
