REMOVAL

1.

Remove the tandem and rider’s saddles 

(see SADDLE 

REMOVAL page 2-3)

.

2.

Remove the exhaust and muffler assembly 

(see 

EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL page 2-11)

.

3.

Remove the screws that secure the electronics cover and 

remove the cover.

4.

Remove the relay from the relay connector. Inspect the 

relay and connector. Clean or repair as needed.

1. POWER LATCH RELAY
2. IGNITION RELAY

3. ACCESSORY RELAY

INSPECTION

The following inspection procedures do not require relay 
removal.

ACCESSORY RELAY

1.

Move the main switch to the Acc position and listen for 

the sound of the accessory relay closing.

2.

Measure the voltage at the Lights fuse. If the value is not 

12 volts, remove the accessory relay and perform a continuity 
test 

(see RELAYS CONTINUITY TEST page 18-27)

IGNITION RELAY

1.

With the engine stop/run switch in the Stop position, 

move the main switch to the On position. Listen for the sound 
of the ignition relay closing.

2.

Measure the voltage at the Fuel Pump, Horn, and 

Auxiliary Lights fuses. If the voltage is not 12 volts, 
perform a continuity test 

(see RELAYS CONTINUITY TEST 

page 18-27)

POWER LATCH RELAY

1.

Move the main switch to the On position.

2.

Move the engine stop/run switch to the run position. This 

energizes the ECM which closes the ground for the power 
latch relay and the fuel pump. Listen for the fuel pump.

3.

Measure the voltage at the EFI fuse. If the value is not 12 

volts, perform a continuity test 

(see RELAYS CONTINUITY 

TEST page 18-27)
