17. Remove the idler gear spindle and sealing washer. Let 
the upper cam chain idler gear rest in the cam chain tunnel.

2. UPPER IDLER GEAR

18. Remove the lower cam chain idler gear.

19. Pull the upper idler gear and the cam chain through the 
top of the cylinder head.

1. FRONT LOWER IDLER

2. REAR LOWER IDLER 

GEAR

20. Remove the cam chain tunnel bolts.

21. Loosen the cylinder head bolts gradually (1/8 - 1/4 turn 
increments), in a cross pattern, and remove them.

22. Separate and remove the cylinder head from the cylinder.

23.  Remove the cylinder head gasket. Clean any remaining 
gasket material from the cylinder head and the cylinder.

Notice

Loosening the head bolts also loosens the cylinder at the 
crankcase. If the cylinder head is removed, replace the 
cylinder base gasket.
