6.

Inspect the brake rotor. A warped or heavily scored rotor 

should be replaced.

7.

Measure the thickness of the rotor in the brake pad 

contact area. Replace the rotor if it has worn beyond the 
minimum thickness dimension stamped on the rotor.

Measure brake rotor lateral runout 

(see FRONT WHEEL 

INSPECTION page 12-3)

ASSEMBLY

1.

Install a new wiper seal in each cylinder bore.

2.

Install a new dust seal in each cylinder bore.

3.

Lubricate each piston with clean DOT 5 hydraulic fluid 

and with the cupped end facing toward the brake pad, 
carefully press the piston into the caliper housing.

Notice

Press each piston all the way into the cylinder bore.

1. WIPER SEAL
2. DUST SEAL

3. PISTON

4.

Place the anti-rattle spring and a new cross port O-ring in 

position and align the two caliper housings.

5.

Install the two caliper housing screws.

Torque: 42 ft-lbs

6.

Hold the brake pads in position and drive the pad 

retaining pin into the caliper from the outboard side.

7.

Install the pin retaining ring.

8.

Install the bleed valve and valve cover.
