Notice
• When installing a new tire, always use a new inner
tube.
• Inner tubes can be patched, but only as an emergency
measure. Replace a damaged or patched inner tube as
soon as possible.
REMOVAL
1. Remove wheel from motorcycle (see FRONT WHEEL
REMOVAL page 12-3) or (see REAR WHEEL REMOVAL
page 12-6) .
2. Release all air from inner tube.
3. Loosen both tire beads from the rim flange. In most
cases a tire bead breaker will need to be used.
4. Lubricate both tire beads and both rim flanges with a tire
lubricant or liquid soap.
5. Using tire irons and rim protectors, start the upper bead
over the edge of the rim at the valve stem. Continue all
around rim until first bead is entirely over the rim edge.
Caution
To avoid damaging tire or rim, do not use excessive force
when starting the tire bead over the rim.
6. Remove the inner tube.
Notice
It is not always necessary to completely remove the tire
from the rim. Removing one side of the tire allows inner
tube replacement and tire inspection.

7. Push the lower bead into the rim well and insert a tire tool
underneath the tire bead from the opposite side.
8. Pry tire bead over rim edge and remove tire.
