14. Remove the retaining ring, needle bearing, washer, and
1st gear from the output shaft.
15. Remove 4th gear from the output shaft.
16. Remove the retaining ring, washer, and 3rd gear from the
output shaft.

8. 3RD GEAR - OUTPUT
17. Remove the input shaft main bearing retainers and press
the bearing out of the cassette plate.
Tool: Input bearing tool EH-6999-0059
18. Press the input shaft out of the bearing and discard the
bearing.

INSPECTION
Clean all transmission parts in solvent prior to inspection.
BEARINGS
1. Inspect the input end bearing race (in right side engine
case) and the output end bearing race (in cassette plate) for
grooves, scoring, or galling. If necessary, remove the bearing
retainer and replace the bearing race.

Input bearing retainer screw
Torque: 36 in-lbs
Output bearing retainer screw
Torque: 8 ft-lbs
2. Inspect the input and output bearing rollers for pitting,
galling, and flat spots. The bearings should rotate smoothly
and quietly in their respective race and on their respective
shafts without excess play. Replace the bearing if necessary.
