CYLINDER
REMOVAL
1. Remove the engine from the frame (see ENGINE
REMOVAL page 5-3) .
2. Remove the throttle body (see THROTTLE BODY
REMOVAL page 4-140) .
3. Remove the cylinder heads, timing cover and gears (see
REMOVAL REMOVAL page 6-5) .

4. Remove the fixed and movable cam chain guides.
Notice
Mark all components during disassembly "Front" or
"Rear" so they can be installed in their original location.

5. Raise the piston to the top of the cylinder and insert
clean, lint free, shop rags under the cylinders.This will
prevent the rod from striking the crankcase and loose debris
from falling into the crankcase during cylinder removal.
6. Remove the cylinder from the crankcase.
