Replacing the bit box
- The bit boxes arranged on the drum
need to be so firmly and reliably weld-
ed to the milling drum that they only
very occasionally break off, and then
only under extreme conditions (e.g.
old steel rails lying concealed in the
milling surface).
Worn bit boxes are then relatively
easy to replace:
- Remove the worn bit box from the mill-
ing drum and ensure that the locating
face is smooth and even.
- Position the new bit box (with bit in-
serted!) on the drum.
- Attach new bit box to the shaft then
weld firmly into place.
Take all necessary safety precautions
during cutting and welding work!
