Noise Reduction
Suppressing ambient noise to improve call quality
FOMA terminal is provided with a function for suppressing ambient noise during a call (Noise
Reduction). When Noise Reduction is set, the other party can hear your voice clearly during a
call. It also makes it easier for you to hear the voice of the other party.
･ It is recommended that this function be turned “ON” when using normally.

In-car Handsfree
Talking without using a hand in a car
Connecting FOMA terminal with a handsfree device (car navigation system, etc.), which is
available in market, through FOMA USB connection cable (optional) in advance, allows making
and answering phone calls from the device without using a hand during driving.
For operations of handsfree devices, refer to the instruction manual for the respective handsfree
devices.
Note: This function is an optional function that will be available when the compatible device is
released.

Operations such as display and ring alert for incoming calls are according to FOMA terminal settings.
However, if the setting is made to activate ring alert of a handsfree device while the device is connected,
the ring alert of a handsfree device sounds for incoming calls even if Silent Mode is set or “OFF” is set for
Sound Setting on FOMA terminal.

Incoming operations while Driving Mode is set are according to FOMA terminal settings.

If a video-phone call is made with a handsfree device using the phonebook or Redial, it depends on the
connection speed setting of the handsfree device. If no data rate setting is made, the video-phone call is
made at fixed 64K.

When a video-phone call is made/received with a handsfree device, a substitute image is sent to the
other party.

If the setting is made to activate ring alert of FOMA terminal while a handsfree device is connected, the
operation performed when FOMA terminal is closed is according to Close Setting. If the setting is made
to activate ring alert of a handsfree device, the call continues even if FOMA terminal is closed,
regardless of Close Setting.

When Answer Machine is set, it is operated according to Answer Machine setting even if a handsfree
device is connected.
