Electro-magnetic compatibility
Recommended separation between portable RF communication equipment mobiles, and the
« Xenon light source » reference equipment
The medical device is intended for use in an electromagnetic environment in which interference due
to RF radiation is controlled. Do not to use portable RF communication devices (including devices
such as antenna cables and external antennas) closer than 30 cm (12 inches) from any part of the
S218 (or S230) device; this includes cables specified by the manufacturer. Otherwise the performance
of these devices could be affected.

For transmitters of which the maximum output power is not listed above, the recommended
separation distance d in meters (m) can be established by using the equation applicable for the
transmitter frequency, in which
P is the transmitter’s maximum output power in Watts (W) assigned
by the transmitter’s manufacturer.

These recommendations may not apply in all situations. The propagation of electromagnetic
waves is modified by absorption and reflection due to structures, objects and people.
