Initial BPX 8600 Node Configuration
This chapter guides you through the initial node configuration that must be done before you can set up
network management, which will enable you to use Cisco WAN Manager workstation to configure
network connections.

Before proceeding with this chapter, make sure you have completed all procedures in Part Two,
Installation. It is assumed that the BPX chassis is mounted, BPX cards are installed, cables connected,
temporary terminal or network management station is connected, peripherals connected, and the BPX
node is powered up.
You are now ready to do the following:
•
Initially configure the node

Configure node name
–
Configure node number
–
Configure LAN IP address and subnet mask

Configure time zone
–
Configure network IP relay addresses
•
Configure trunks (adding the new node to the network)
•
Configure lines and ports (enabling and configuring user ports)

Add and Configure Connections
