How to adjust the airflow of paper floatation fan
1) In Service Mode > Mode List > COPIER > Option > DSPLY-SW, change the value of IMGC-
ADJ to "1", which enables "Paper Separation Fan Level Adjustment" by paper type in User
Mode > System Settings > Paper Type Management Settings.
(The default value is "6", and the adjustment value ranges from "1" to "11".)
2) For settings of floatation and separation air when paper is picked up, the optimal value is to
be determined from the parameter values (1 to 25) according to paper size, paper surface
quality, basis weight and its operating environment. The determined parameter value is
equivalent to the default value of "6" for "Paper Separation Fan Level Adjustment" in User
Mode.
The floatation and separation airflow levels are determined based on this value and the
pickup operation is performed accordingly. The parameter value changes by changing the
adjustment value for "Paper Separation Fan Level Adjustment" from "6". Floatation air and
separation air are explained as below.

• Floatation airflow
When printing operation starts, floatation airflow passes through the floatation air duct and
air blows to the paper from the 3 floatation nozzles.
About 10 to 20 sheets of paper on top are floated by the air.

• Separation airflow
When printing operation starts, the deck pickup solenoid is activated to open the suction
shutter, and the air around the suction duct is sucked to the paper suction fan, which
causes the paper to be absorbed to the suction belt.
At this time, the separation airflow is blown from the 6 separation nozzles through the
separation air duct, and only the top sheet is separated and picked up.
