For rotary motion, the drive unit normally turns continuously in one
direction. The product is brought to its relative position
using rolls and is then processed. Feed-to-length
mechanisms are typically used. There are no travel limit
switches.
For linear motion, the drive unit moves a mechanical system only a
specified distance. Normally, absolute positioning is
performed and travel limit switches monitor the distance
traversed.
The rotary table normally turns continuously. Positioning is absolute
within one revolution of Parameter A105, Modulo Value.
There are no travel limit switches.

Direct Measurement: In addition to the motor encoder, an externally
mounted encoder provides position detection.
Measuring Wheel: At times, an external encoder takes over position
detection. It is possible to switch back and forth between
the motor encoder and the measuring wheel encoder.
