27. Insert the 100µm fixed aperture.
The aperture should be installed with the text
properly orientated and facing out (toward you).
Note
The upper plate of the slot is flexible so the aperture can easily be inserted
and removed. The upper plate includes a semi-circular ridge that correctly positions
the aperture; when the aperture is installed, it should “snap” into place if positioned
correctly. DO NOT “push” the aperture to center it in the binocular viewer; remove
and reinstall the aperture ~ 3 times to ensure repeatability and then perform the
binocular alignment below.
When looking through the eyepieces the aperture image should be centered
on the reticle square.
If not use two, 3/32 inch balldrivers to adjust the two screws
at the back left/right sides of the binoc/trinoc dovemount to center the sample
aperture image on the reticle square.
