Unit Identification Information
Use the unit identification information line to record information used to
identify a Group to which a unit belongs, and to identify the individual unit.
Group Name
Use the Group Name field to assign a group in which to create and
store BV1250 units in the Maintenance Console Software.
Each BV1250 unit must be assigned to a Group. The New Group
command is used to enter this information in the Maintenance
Console Software. This must be done before units (Gateways) can be
created.
When the BV1250’s internal DNS functions and/or an external DNS
sever is used in the network, grouped units must use the same DNS
configuration. This information is stored in the unit’s DNS.DAT file.
The Group Name field allows for entry of an unrestricted
alphanumeric string.
In the sample worksheet, the Group Name is New York.
Unit Name
Use the Unit Name to enter a name to be associated with a unit
(Gateway) in the Maintenance Console Software. The Maintenance
Console Software requires this information before a unit can be
defined and configured using the MCS.
The Group Name field allows entry of an unrestricted alphanumeric
string.
In the sample worksheet, the Unit Name is Unit 1.
