3.1.3 PBX and KTS Interface
Below, the analog and E&M interfaces of each BV1250 type (AP, E&M, and
FXO) are discussed.
BV1250-E&M/E&M-OD
A BV1250 unit equipped with an E&M or E&M-OD board connects with a
PBX E&M interface board.
The following information should be considered when installing and using
E&M equipped units.
•
E&M unit trunk line connections can be setup for four PBX interface
types including, Type 1/2-wire, Type 1/4-wire, Type 2/2-wire, Type
2/4-wire, and Type 5.
•
The BV1250-E&M interface supports both Dial Pulse (DP) and Dual
Tone Multiple Frequency (DTMF) signaling.
•
Three PBX startup methods are supported: Delay-dial

, Immediate
start, and Wink-start.
•
Each unit can accommodate up to four trunk line connections.

Because of the high-efficiency voice compression used in the BV1250,
data (modem) calls cannot be placed through phones connected
through a BV1250-E&M unit.
•
For voice level control, it is possible to configure a unit’s incoming and
outgoing digital Pad (gain/loss). The default pad control for incoming
and outgoing voice is defaulted to 0 dB. The PAD adjustment should
usually be set on the PBX side. Also, an AGC (Automatic Gain
Control) feature can be used to adjust incoming voice signals to a
preset level.
•
The BV1250-E&M can accommodate up to four simultaneous voice
communications through the E&M trunks.
