Hunt Pattern
Use the Hunt Pattern section of the Worksheet to record information how
called numbers are processed one or more PBXs or FXO Hunt Groups.
The Hunt Pattern defines which Trunk Group will be accessed when a call
is processed and how the call will be routed through a PBX or FXO Hunt
Group.
44
For FXO units, Destination numbers consist of one or more PBX Office
Codes
45
or FXO Hunt Group Office Code
46
. Each Trunk Group defined in
the Trunk Data folder can be associated with a PBX or FXO Hunt Group
Office Code. When there are two or more Trunk Groups defined for a
single unit, grouped ports can be associated with more than one PBX or
Hunt Group by configuring them with the appropriate Office Codes.
Conversely, the Trunk Groups of several units can be configured with the
same PBX or Hunt Group Office Code. This stacks units, creating a single
virtual unit consisting of more ports than are available on a single unit.
When a Trunk Group is associated with a PBX or Hunt Group Office Code
(Destination number), it is then associated with a unit Hunt Pattern Number
(1, 2, 3, or 4). The Hunt Pattern number is used to configure the Trunk
Priority Feature discussed in the next topic.
From 1 to 4 Hunt Patterns can be defined (e.g. A pattern for each Trunk
Group that has been defined for the unit). The relationship between ports,
Trunk Groups, Hunt Patterns and PBX or Hunt Group Office Codes is:

It is not possible to direct calls to a specific port within a Trunk
Group.
The default configuration is for one Trunk Group made up of all four ports.
This configuration is defaulted to Hunt Pattern 1 and would be associated
with a single PBX or FXO Hunt Group Office Code (Destination number).
In the Trunk Priority folder settings this single group is defaulted to Priority
one.
If the default configuration is used, then all that is necessary is to define the
connection characteristics for the single Trunk Group (e.g. Trunk Group 1).
Since no additional Trunk Groups are available, no additional Hunt Pattern
information is required and the Trunk Priority section of this worksheet can
be ignored.
44
A Trunk Group is made up of one or more ports (see preceding section, Trunk Data).
45
A PBX Office code is a unique 1 to 8 digit identifier associated with a PBX. This number rather than
the Unit’s IVG Office Code, is used when dialing a PBX extension through an E&M unit.
46
An FXO Hunt Group is a logical entity created by assigning a common Destination number (e.g.
Hunt Group Office Code) to all units communicating through the FXO Hunt Group.
