Assembling the SECM Nose Cone

The SECM probe comes pre-mounted on a cartridge for easy placement 
into the 5500 nose cone.

Figure 16-11 

SECM nose cone and probe cartridge

The procedure to assembly the SECM nose cone is as follows.

1

Strip the Teflon from the last 1/8” of the thin platinum (Pt) wire that 
is attached to the probe. This enables the electrical contact between 
the probe and the EC electronics.

2

Carefully hold the cartridge and slide it into the nose cone, aligning 
the platform holding the probe with the slot in the nose cone as seen 
in
