Spectral Doppler Mode

7.1.3.2 Format

This controls serve for selection of either one of three formats (60/40, 50/ 50 and 40/ 60) for display.

Format: large (60/40)

Format: mid (50/50)

Format: small (40/60)

7.1.3.3 Frequency

This control serves for selection of the required transmit frequency for the actual gate position.
Normally one works with the transmit frequency which is corresponding to the ultrasound element’s
properties

With a higher transmit frequency

Frequency high

]

the amplitude of the Doppler spectrum is displayed

larger (advantage: better display of lower flow velocities), but the penetration depth is reduced.
With a lower transmit frequency

[

Frequency low

]

the amplitude of the Doppler spectrum is displayed

smaller (advantage: display of higher flow velocities), however the penetration depth is increased
(higher sensitivity).

The transmit frequency is displayed in the Image Info area on the screen.

low:

The transmit frequency is lower than the middle frequency of the crystal.

mid:

The transmit frequency is the middle frequency of the crystal.

high: The transmit frequency is higher than the middle frequency of the crystal.
