C.2.21.2 GIA Failure Test
Step Desired
Result
Single GIA Failure Conditions:
1. Remove power from GIA1 by pulling the
appropriate circuit breakers.
2. Check for desired results.
3. Restore power to GIA1. Allow GPS1 to re-
acquire satellites.
4. Remove power from GIA2 by pulling the
appropriate circuit breakers.
5. Check for desired results.
6. Restore power to GIA2. Allow GPS2 to re-
acquire satellites.
GIA1 Failure – For a GIA1 failure,
only
the following
shall flag invalid:

COM1/NAV1 field (PFD & MFD)
9
NAV1 CDI loses deviation bar (PFD only)
9
“AHRS1 GPS – AHRS1 not receiving backup
GPS information.” alert message on PFD
GIA2 Power Failure – For a GIA2 failure,
only
the
following shall flag invalid:
9
COM2/NAV 2 field (PFD & MFD)
9
NAV2 CDI loses deviation bar (PFD only)
9
“AHRS1 GPS – AHRS1 not receiving backup
GPS information.” alert message on PFD
9
“CO DET FAIL– The carbon monoxide detector
is inoperative” alert message on PFD (if installed)
Dual GIA Failure Conditions:
1. Remove power from both GIA units.
2. Check for desired results.
3. Restore power to both GIA units.
Dual GIA Failure – For a dual GIA failure, the
following shall occur:

COM1/NAV1 & COM2/NAV2 fields flag invalid
9
GPS CDI flags DR on PFD, all GPS data
AMBER
9
NAV1 & NAV2 CDI loses deviation bar
9
XPDR field flags invalid on PFD
9
Engine Instrument field flags invalid on MFD
9
All AHRS & ADC fields remain valid
9
TAWS FAIL annunciation given (if activated)
