B.3.4.2 GRS 77 AHRS Installation Guidance

One possible AHRS mounting location for the Lancair Legacy aircraft is installed behind the right seat, in
the aft section of the baggage area. The forward section of the baggage area usually contains the hydraulic
pump, relays, and/or other electrical equipment. Figure B-73 shows the location on two aircraft views.

The installation uses the universal AHRS mount kit available through Garmin. As part of the installation,
either the installer will need to install a subfloor to protect all equipment located in the baggage area, or
they will need to fabricate a cover for the GRS 77 to protect from damage by baggage.

The following notes detail preparation of the universal AHRS mount kit, installation of the universal
mount kit, installation of the AHRS, and considerations for a custom cover for the AHRS unit.
