Enabling GVRP Globally
To configure GVRP globally, use the following command.
• Enable GVRP for the entire switch.
CONFIGURATION mode
gvrp enable

Dell(conf)#protocol gvrp
Dell(config-gvrp)#no disable
Dell(config-gvrp)#show config

Dell(config-gvrp)#
To inspect the global configuration, use the
show gvrp brief
command.
Enabling GVRP on a Layer 2 Interface
To enable GVRP on a Layer 2 interface, use the following command.
• Enable GVRP on a Layer 2 interface.
INTERFACE mode
gvrp enable

Dell(conf-if-te-1/21/1)#switchport
Dell(conf-if-te-1/21/1)#gvrp enable
Dell(conf-if-te-1/21/1)#no shutdown

To inspect the interface configuration, use the
show config
command from INTERFACE mode or use
the
show gvrp interface
command in EXEC or EXEC Privilege mode.
Configure GVRP Registration
Configure GVRP registration.
There are two GVRP registration modes:
•
Fixed Registration Mode
— figuring a port in fixed registration mode allows for manual creation and
registration of VLANs, prevents VLAN deregistration, and registers all VLANs known on other ports on
the port. For example, if an interface is statically configured via the CLI to belong to a VLAN, it should
not be unconfigured when it receives a Leave PDU. Therefore, the registration mode on that interface
is FIXED.
